TEACHER / GUIDE MIGUEL ANGEL VERGARA
There is no better teacher than Miguel Angel to guide us through the amazing mysteries of the Maya site of Chichen Itza. Having worked as a Director at the site for four years and then continuing to study it with his teacher, Don Vicente Martin, for many more years he has accumulated a vast knowledge of the spiritual wisdom left to us by the ancient Maya and he is ready to share this on our virtual tour of Chichen Itza.
THE BALL COURT
We will start our tour in the famous Ball Court of Chichen Itza which is dedicated to the Inner Transformation or the “Transformation of the Ego”. This is a very special place where the Maya received the knowledge and the didactic of how to apply it in order to understand the process of inner transformation.
Here in the Ball Court is the Cosmic Palace where the Maya, step by step, developed a process of inner study to make the inner transformation through deep reflexive meditations. This Cosmic Palace reminds us of the story from the Maya Sacred Book, The Popol Vuh, where victory against darkness was gained in the Ball Court of Xibalba by the Hero Twins, Hunaphu and Ix’Balamke.
There will be a brief break and when we return Miguel Angel will take us to the TZOMPANTLI
This temple is an allegory showing specifically how to work with the shade, the “Ego”. It shows many different faces making you uncertain what to do in order to complete the great transformation within you. There will be time for questions followed by a meditation to close the first day of this journey.
TEMPLE OF VENUS
This wonderful Pyramid describes the “spiritual ascension” of Quetzalcoatl-KuKuulKaan to the Venus as the “Morning Star”. This temple is adorned with different symbols related to the Maya Calendar and the Great Cycle of 104 years of the “Shining Star”, “Elek-Ek”: the Planet Venus, symbol of music, beauty and harmony. There will be a brief break and then we come back to the Pyramid of KuKuulKaan.
PYRAMID OF KUKUULKAAN
This pyramid represents the “Universal Maya Calendar” where the Maya sculpted in stone the symbols and numbers of the “HAAB” Solar Calendar and the “TZOLKIN” Lunar Calendar. It is associated with the Pleiades Constellation cycle of 52 years and is known worldwide for its Light and Shade astronomical phenomena representing the cosmic descent of the KuKuulKaan energy every spring and fall equinox.
TEMPLE OF THE WARRIORS
This temple is known as “The Temple of Warriors” or “The Temple of the Thousand Columns”. Each one of these columns has representations of “Warriors of Light” doing their spiritual transformation through the symbolic representations of the “Quetzal Warrior”, “Jaguar Warrior”, “Serpent Warrior”… marvelous metaphors to indicate the high level of awareness of these great Warriors / Teachers.
It is from this great cosmic temple that the Maya watched the sky and made their calculations for their Calendars. Here they became aware of the astronomical phenomena in the Cosmos, in our Solar System to watch the Sun and Moon eclipses.
The Maya were great astronomers and this temple has many of the cosmic cycles represented in its dimensions and symbols.
