MAYA NEW YEAR 2022
Sacred Path of the Eagle, Jaguar and Serpent
July 14, 15, 16, 2022
With the Maya New Year beginning on July 16 the Maya Calendar offers us a great chance to review where we are, what is going on around us, what is important to hold onto and what is important to let go.
For the Maya this was a time of cleansing the ceremonial centers, the pyramids, the temples, public areas and private houses. Debts were paid, and people asked for forgiveness so they would be in social and family harmony. Leading up to the celebration of the New Year were days of purification, fasting and meditation, allowing people to obtain a clear vision of what their future could entail.
In this workshop we are guided by three Maya Animal Totems to prepare us for what is coming in the New Year: the Eagle, the Jaguar and the Serpent. It offers you the opportunity to set aside the negativity, chaos and uncertainty in your life today and to see what new possibilities are waiting for you in this Maya New Year.
Miguel Angel Vergara
Miguel Angel is a Maya Priest and Master Teacher who lives and works in Yucatán, Mexico. He studied with Maya Elder Vicente Martín for 17 years and continues to work with the Elders and Priests who are keeping the Maya Sacred Wisdom very much alive today.
He teaches us how to connect with the Maya Masters of Light who are still at the sacred sites ready to guide us today as in ancient times.
Every day we can turn to the Eagle, the Jaguar, the Serpent for the guidance we need.
July 14: THE EAGLE
The Eagle is a powerful totem with the ability to see clearly from great heights. Seeing only the truth, the message to us is clear: In order to create change, to transform something, you must first know the truth of it. He is the intermediary between God and Humankind. Connect with the energy of the Eagle, accept the truth of who you are, what you are meant to be doing. Open your Heart.
“Holy Eagle of the East, messenger of the Great Spirit, teach me the Dance of Tomorrow, the birth of the new vision on Earth, to walk in Harmony, Beauty and Balance and to use my life to strengthen my ties with all Humankind.”
July 15: THE JAGUAR
Another powerful totem, this one with the ability to see in the dark. The Jaguar is your inner warrior, residing in your Heart, protecting you and helping release any negativity with the assistance of Grandmother Ix’Mukane, Heart of the Earth. Connect with the Energy of the Jaguar and learn the mysteries of this powerful Totem, the fierce energy within us and how to use it.
“And I saw the Jaguar and with eyes of Light he invited me to enter into the immensity of the Cosmos. I became one with the Light of the eyes of the Jaguar and I traveled through the vastness of the Universe.”
July 16: THE SERPENT
The Serpent gives us access to the Sacred Knowledge. Open up and accept the very sacred energy the Serpent is offering you. This Knowledge is important to you and it is important that you share it with others.
“Serpent. Ku’KuulKaan. Kan. Those who have been swallowed by the Cosmic Wisdom and who can transform the Sacred Energy to elevate their consciousness. Those who know and manage how to use the 7 forces that govern our body and know the close relationship with the Universe.”
There will be a short break before we begin the Ceremony.
THE MAYA NEW YEAR CEREMONY
“THE PURE LIGHT OF THE SUN DESCENDS TOWARDS YOU”
We invite you to join us for an online ceremony welcoming the Maya New Year.
